Private Lesson Tiers

Our rates for students who attend local Birmingham City Schools or underserved city schools across the NJTL FootPrint is $8.50 per lesson and are semi-private not to exceed 5 students at a time.

For Beginners aged 8+.

Has no knowledge or previous history of playing/learning chess.

Will be enrolled in a semi-private group for two months to reach Knight not to exceed 3 students at a time.

For Intermediates aged 8+.

Knows basics: how pieces move, legal moves versus illegal moves, how pieces capture, how to check and get out of check, basic tactics, and can checkmate.

Enrolled in a semi-private group for two months to reach Bishop not to exceed 6 students at a time.

For Advanced aged 10+

Knows at least one opening in detail, can execute intermediate tactics and motifs, should be rated 800-1200. Needs help with opening theory, middle game understanding, and other critical concepts.

One-on-lesson tier.

For Elite Students aged 12+.

Tournament Competitive, should be able to win local scholastic events with relative ease. Rated 1200-1600. Requires weekly lessons and dedicated coaching hours and support to play in state tournaments and eventual national events.

Payments for Tiers: Pawn-Royalty 

Must be paid in full for that month.

Others Payments can be done per lesson.

Rates are provided via serious inquiry only, requiring a deposit to avoid lack of commitment.
